@gregdeplume: part two response to @kinda_catholic (feat. @Leavingfaith) - I ended this saying he didn't think about it at all, I misspoke. I meant to say he only thought about it as far as it was comfortable and concluded he's still right about Jesus ~~ #atheist #afterlife #pascalswager #angryatheist #atheisttok

Yeah, he didn't even consider that a different deity could have different rules, expectations and sins and that he could've been guilty of all of them by worshipping the 'wrong' deity. Which would result in going to...The Bad Place(TM) (or nearest equivalent). Even in partial consideration of the question, he still thought it'd somehow give him Afterlife Credits(c) by worshipping his favourite deity. Thereby completely missing the point, ironically, as that's the way religious folk mean it when asking the same darn question of atheists(!)

the original question is "what if something unknowable becomes known and you discover that you're wrong but it's too late to do anything about it what do you do?" well if it's too late then it's too late it is redundant question. I have no idea how such a quest in is supposed to spark a genuine debate with any Christian or any religious person, maybe it only works if you come at it from the position of an atheist where they find out that they're wrong but even then it would be too late so it's a redundant question

I wish more people would think about your button example. I think it's spot on. but they're never going to question whether the blue button even exists while there's still slamming their head down on the red one out of sheer devotion.

He doesn't answer the question truthfully because his beliefs and doctrine won't let him. Morals shouldn't come into the question.

It’s completely pointless to worry about any kind judgment from any kind of deity if you don’t believe that any exist in the first place.

no it does not imply that he's talking about how Jesus affect him and his relationship. you've used a false equivalence it's a terrible argument

I think it is important to confront them with the reality that the deployment of this horrific threat by them to attempt to coerce conversion is a clue as to why no one should fear it. The threat was very clearly concocted by humans to use as a coercive instrument. It makes no sense any other way. Indeed, were this God along with his horrific threat real one would be forced to conclude that he would be a savage, sadistic, vindictive monster. No conception of a divine beneficent being could accord with such barbarity, and if the god is this evil then there can be no assurance that he would honour any promise. Furthermore, despite this Christian’s sanguine outlook he has utterly failed to grapple with the implication of the question he asked. His good deeds might as easily be filthy rags in the view of this alternative deity and his failure to rightly divine the “true” God would condemn him as equally as he imagines should be our fate. So then we, like him, may very readily employ the same confidence with which this Christian dismisses the terrors of the hell threatened by Muslim believers. We may dismiss his threats as easily as this Christian dismisses any the threats of any other religion because we only believe in one less religion than he. In fact, we have even less reason to be afraid than he. For he has accepted the principle of a punishment in the afterlife, but faces this terror with only an inflated and misplaced confidence in salvation from that fate. How often I have encountered Christians terrorised by this quite evil threat from their own God. Their Bible tells them at “not everyone who says to me ‘Lord, Lord’ will enter the kingdom of heaven. There are various denominations who declare that one must part of their distinct brand of Christianity to be confident of salvation. The *assurance* that various Christians boast of always figured as unhappily unassuring to me. I can see little to distinguish this kind of confidence from delusion. All this without again returning to the consideration that we have no God reason to presume that Christianity should be elevated above any other religion that may carry the threat of damnation.

Theists can never engage with honesty or intellectual integrity. Every response is laced with their presuppisition that their beliefs are true. Perhaps it is the indoctrinated fear of reprisal from their god if they ever dare step for a moment into doubt.

You can't discover anything after you are dead just like you didn't discover anything before you were alive. Hope that helps.

I don't think Anubis cares what you believe, he just weighs your heart and if it's lighter than a feather you go to the Field of Reeds, and if it's not BOOM eaten by a hungry soul-eating Crocodile-Hippo-Monster.

In Islam, if a Christian dies and lived viewing Jesus as God (instead of just a prophet), then they’ve committed ‘Shirk’, and thus, go to Jahannam (hell), where they drink boiling water for eternity. Christians are happy to use pascal’s wager on everyone else, but never seem to use it on themselves, ie “what if we’re wrong”?
