@mustsharenews: The Land Transport Authority (LTA) explained that it will rule out creating a separate category for private-hire cars (PHCs), and instead introduce additional trade-offs without necessarily lowering COE premiums for individual car buyers. It will also not put an extra surcharge on multiple-car owners, highlighting that multiple-car ownership in Singapore has been falling, and a surcharge would also be “unlikely to have a significant impact on COE prices”. The LTA’s position on COE for PHCs received mixed reaction from netizens on its Facebook post on 29 Oct. soooo they're basically saying that they aren't gonna do anything about companies hogging up the COEs and people who owns multiple cars. In a land limited country and quota based vehicle restrictions, people should not own multiple vehicles. In a system with strict vehicle quotas, owning multiple private cars means taking away the opportunity for someone else to own just one.
