Oh my God. I’m kind of speechless. I finished Eldritch last night — the second book in the Nightshade series, after Anathema — and I genuinely don’t know where to begin. First of all, I feel INCREDIBLY lucky that I finished it literally the day before Basmora comes out, because HOW did the rest of you survive this cliffhanger for months??? 😭 I’m serious. I would not have made it. Absolutely impossible. What. A. Book. I think you already know how obsessed I am with this series, but Eldritch has taken that obsession to another level. At this point, I genuinely think this is becoming one of my favorite series alongside Red Rising. And Maevyth and Zevander… God. You know I’ve compared something about their dynamic before to Helena and Kaine in Alchemised, and there is just something about these devastating, complicated love stories that completely destroys me. This book is BRUTAL. Beautiful, incredibly romantic, haunting… but brutal. I cried SO MUCH reading it. And I mean so much. There is so much tragedy woven through this story, and getting so many chapters from Zevander’s POV makes everything even more devastating because you understand what is happening inside him — his love, his guilt, his pain, his choices — and some of those chapters genuinely broke my heart. And then THAT ENDING. I actually cannot. Watching Maevyth and Zevander finally get so close to escaping after everything they have survived, only for him to fall into Nethyria… her reaching for him, their hands slipping apart, Maevyth believing she has just lost him forever… I was DONE. And then finding out he survived. And RAIVOX. That final tiny thread of hope after all that devastation was almost cruel. 😭 So yes, I am feeling extremely grateful that I finished Eldritch NOW because Vasmora, the third and final book, releases TODAY. I genuinely don’t know how I would have emotionally survived sitting with that cliffhanger for months. What a story. What a world. What a love story. I need Vasmora immediately. 🖤
