@vicious_lifts: This is general novice lifter advice to make the most efficient use of your time for rapid progress 👇🏻 If you’re a beginner, running a massive, high-volume bodybuilding split is a complete waste of your time. First of all, as a novice lifter your threshold to trigger muscle protein synthesis is incredibly low. Throwing 15 sets at your chest on a Monday doesn’t make you grow more, it just creates junk volume and makes you sore for longer with zero additional growth. By day 2 your protein synthesis is back at base line, then your muscle is just sat idling doing fuck all for another 5 days. You are leaving gains on the table doing that. Also, stop worrying about 'frying your central nervous system' with heavy weights. As a novice, you literally aren't strong enough to generate the absolute mechanical force required to crush your CNS. If your max squat is 80kg, your body isn't experiencing the systemic devastation that an elite lifter faces. You have a massive recovery buffer, use it. This is why a hybrid 5x5 compound progression model is superior. In your first few months, your strength gains are mostly neurological, your brain is just figuring out how to fire motor units and clean up your technique. But neural efficiency peaks quickly. Once it does, the only way your body can keep adding raw weight to that 5x5 logbook is by building actual, dense contractile muscle tissue. Heavy free-weight compounds force that structural adaptation faster than anything else. But this training does something else, it builds an unbreakable baseline of mental fortitude and toughness at a significantly faster rate. Squatting, pressing, and pulling heavy three days a week forces you to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. When you build your foundational base using these high-frequency parameters, future programs will genuinely feel like a joke in comparison. Why? Because as you get stronger, absolute workloads naturally start to outpace your body's ability to recover. As you transition into advanced stages of lifting, your relative training intensity on big compounds actually has to get easier and more calculated to facilitate recovery. Coming from a background/ base line of raw, heavy 5x5 full body 3 times a week will genuinely make you laugh at the fake alpha, no pain, no gain" gym culture. And it is a big reason why i generally cant help but take the piss out of them. Because there is nothing hardcore about training after you've ran an aggressive system like that. #fatiguemanagement #powerbuilding
