The jet was in icy conditions and most likely suffered a wing stall. The disruption over the wing would cause it to lose lift and drop. This accounts for the 60° bank on the radio call. With that degree of back, the jet would have departed controlled flight, rolled over, and the nose would have pitched down at a steep angle. The pilots would be looking almost straight down at the ground trying to recover.
