Sometimes the small things are the big things. A life-changing Tourette's device is giving people their independence back, allowing users to do everyday tasks, like buying a hot coffee without scalding themselves. Ash Watson cried when he first received the Neupulse device, which sends electrical pulses to the brain that reduce the amount and severity of tics. For the time he was able to control his body so buying a cup of coffee was the first thing he did because he used to scald himself while squeezing the paper cup too hard. “I love my coffee.” Lamara Wilson and Katie Margree also live with Tourette's, and they describe the device as ‘life changing’ and ‘very emotional’ when they received theirs. For Lamara, wearing the wrist device feels like a massive balloon of pressure that has finally popped, giving her the confidence to move to London to study. “It's like I’ve got a chance at life,” she added. Like Ash, Katie has experienced bullying at school. She describes her first time turning the gadget on as “the best day of her life.” “Usually when I am about to get a tic, I get a notification in my brain that tells me a tic is going to happen,

Like Ash, Katie has experienced bullying at school. She describes her first time turning the gadget on as “the best day of her life.” “Usually when I am about to get a tic, I get a notification in my brain that tells me a tic is going to happen," Katie explained. "But when I have got this on, I can see it in the distance and it just goes away.” The University of Nottingham developed the device. During its 2023 clinical trial, Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi as well as 121 others tested the technology. Although the wearable has successfully passed its clinical trials, it is currently awaiting regulatory approval before it can be made widely available on the NHS. In the meantime, the device is being marketed as a wellness tool, known to support symptoms of Tourette's as well as for individuals' managing OCD and anxiety. #5news #tourettes #tics
