@aubrey_the_attorney: I CAN’T PROTECT THEIR HEARTS FROM EVERYTHING. BUT MAN, I WISH I COULD. ❤️ Yesterday, I celebrated 16 months sober by shopping with my kiddos and riding bikes. And if you ever want to find out how out of shape you are, just try keeping up with your kids on a bike. 😂 We laughed and made memories, and I kept thinking how much I love being their mom. It is the best adventure of my life. But this weekend had some hard moments, too. Both of my kids experienced feeling left out this Halloween. From not being included in matching plans to hearing “Who invited you?” at a party. Seeing them sad absolutely broke my mama heart. You want to fix it. Find the right words. Somehow make it hurt less. We had some conversations about kindness, friendship, and how someone else treating you poorly doesn’t mean there is something wrong with you. Those are hard lessons, even for adults. I can’t make every room welcoming for my kids. But I can make sure they know they are wanted, loved, and never an afterthought with me. And I’m so grateful to God for 16 months sober and days like yesterday. Time to listen. Time to laugh. Time to ride bikes until my legs remind me I need to exercise more. 😂❤️ Being their mom will always be my favorite part of this life. Congrats on 16 months of sobriety. You‘ve come a long ways. I’ll have 5 years in December, but only really have today. I don’t really day watch or count anymore, but share my days for others to know if I can do it, you can too. I’m sorry for the heartbreak you & your children had to experience this weekend. Yes ma'am, kids these days have no manners. Mostly because they're not being raised with consequences for their actions. I've had to have those same talks with my kiddo. She has the kindest heart and wants everyone to be apart of things. So she's been an easy target a few times, but has grown to understand not everyone has good intentions. She's a lil more picky now who she lets in her circle. We want to take away the hurt automatically as parents, but I feel like we help them more by being there while they work through it 🤷🏻‍♂️I'm proud of you in your sobriety journey, keep killin it momma you're doin great 🤙🏼
