@japdmedia26: Oakdale, Minnesota, USA — A former special-education teacher has been sentenced after admitting to an inappropriate relationship with an 18-year-old student while he was still attending her school. Ann Margaret Bacon, 27, formerly worked at Tartan High School. She pleaded guilty in September 2026 to third-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a prohibited professional relationship. Investigators found that Bacon booked hotel rooms on four occasions between May and July 2023 to meet the student. Records identified bookings on May 8, June 4, June 11 and July 4. Police also uncovered photographs and messages documenting their relationship. Bacon initially claimed the relationship began after the student graduated. However, investigators confronted her with photographs showing the two together at a hotel in May 2023. She subsequently acknowledged that the relationship began while he was still her student. She resigned from her teaching position in February 2024. On October 26, 2026, a Ramsey County judge sentenced Bacon to 180 days in jail, followed by two years of supervised probation. However, she was permitted to serve her sentence through electronic home monitoring rather than spending the entire period behind bars. She also received credit for two days already served. The sentence followed a plea agreement in which prosecutors and the defense jointly requested a reduced conviction and sentence. The case has renewed attention on professional boundaries and the responsibility educators have toward students. #Oakdale #Minnesota #USA #AnnMargaretBacon #japd
