Why do employers wait to write someone up two weeks later but could've done it the day after the actual incident?

I don’t know of any employer who has discipline someone for insubordination for not signing a document. You don’t have to sign any document.

I had a write up once and I didn’t even take my pen off the signature before the boss ripped it out of my hands and refuse to make a copy. I said I’m not leaving until I get a copy of it cause I don’t trust you to not change it. He called the police and I got fired.

Every company I’ve worked for, your signature is just acknowledging the conversation was had, but isn’t needed for termination, so it’s better to sign, but ALWAYS add comments, an explanation, or that you’re disputing the document

most states can fire you for any reason that isn't a protected class. your manager could just be having a bad day and decide youre gone. no write up required

Asher :
id just write "They threatened physical harm if I didn't sign" might still get fired but that piece of paper won't look good in their files.
