@dibsportstalk: The Next WNBA Commissioner Could Make or Break the League’s Future The WNBA is at a critical crossroads, and choosing the next commissioner may be one of the most important decisions in league history. I hope they don’t choose someone simply to maintain the league’s existing sisterhood culture. They need a business-minded leader who understands growth, player development, coaching development, accountability, and how to deliver a better basketball product. From my perspective, the WNBA is growing, but it’s not growing with flowers. It’s growing with weeds. And if you don’t address those weeds, they’ll eventually damage everything you’re trying to build. The league needs a complete cultural overhaul. Better officiating, consistent rules, improved game flow, stronger coaching standards, and accountability for players, organizations, and even fans. Watching the Finals, I was disappointed by the offensive product. When championship basketball consistently struggles to produce high-scoring games, something needs to be evaluated. Defense matters, but so do offensive execution, creativity, and entertainment. Growth means nothing if the quality of the product doesn’t grow with it. The next commissioner shouldn’t just protect the WNBA’s traditions. They should have the vision and courage to modernize the league, improve its culture, and build a sustainable business. The WNBA has tremendous potential. But potential alone doesn’t guarantee success. It’s time to pull the weeds and let the league truly blossom. — DIB Sports Talk #WNBA #WNBABasketball #fyp #caitlinclark #WBB
