![🚨Erling Haaland on Enzo Fernández winning Man of the Match against Leipzig: 🗣️ Erling Haaland: I’m not going to lie, when they announced Enzo as Man of the Match, I looked around like, “Wait… what?” I respect Enzo. He played well, he scored, he helped the team. But I’m trying to understand the decision. I scored too. So if we are talking about goals, we both scored. But then you have to look at everything else. How many times did I occupy their defenders? How many chances did I create just by being there? How many times did I pull two defenders away and create space for everyone else? Sometimes people only look at the player touching the ball. I’m a striker. My job is to score, and I did that. So when I see the award going to Enzo, I’m thinking, “Maybe I should have scored two.” Because apparently one goal wasn’t enough. Enzo knows I’m not saying this because I have a problem with him. I told him after the game, “Enjoy your award, but I’m taking the next one.” But honestly, if you ask me who deserved it, I would pick myself. I scored, I was constantly threatening their back line, and I made their defenders uncomfortable for the entire game. You can give Man of the Match to whoever you want. But if you ask the players who Leipzig were most worried about when we attacked, I don’t think many of them would say Enzo. They were watching me. They were following my runs. They were trying to stop me getting into the box. That tells you something. Enzo had a very good game, no doubt. But Man of the Match? I don’t know about that one. Maybe next time, I’ll just have to make it impossible for them to choose anyone else.
