i think impeaching trump could ultimately be a net good, BUT i also think it carries a pretty large strategic risk for 2028. if democrats impeach him and the case makes it to the senate, where he is subsequently removed from office, that would give jd vance two years to govern and cleanup the damage caused by the trump administration. regardless of what you think of vance, he isn’t politically inept like trump. we’ve already seen him increasingly distances himself from trump over the past year. i see it as he’s deliberately putting in an effort to position himself as someone who can move the republican party beyond maga and appeal to 2028
