@fionaschoolholidaytravel: My friend had never even used Skyscanner before! I thought that was wild, so it gave me the idea to put together this comparison. I've compared our upcoming Morocco winter break with an EasyJet package holiday using the exact same flights. It's not completely like for like, as we're staying in Taghazout rather than Agadir and have chosen different accommodation, but they're neighbouring areas and it's a pretty good comparison! The package holiday is £977 for our family of four. We've booked our own flights for £130 and chosen an apartment with separate bedrooms, a kitchen and a huge patio. Add in car hire, food and activities, and we're expecting our entire DIY holiday to come in under £500! That's potentially over £477 saved. We're happy to skip the hotel pool and half board. We'd rather spend our time surfing, exploring Paradise Valley and enjoying the beach. I'm not saying DIY holidays are always cheaper, but it's definitely worth comparing before you book! Travel insurance will usually cover many of the things you need when booking DIY, but policies differ. Always check your policy and what's included.
