How are you able to do the changes yourself? My wound is too close to my butthole for me to be able to do it myself - I have to get my housemate to do it. Also I was never given oramorph so have had to do the packings on just the codeine phosphate. Well done on walking to your doctors! That’s amazing!

It’s so interesting how treatment differs from place to place and person to person! I’ve only ever had packing a couple of times post fistulectomy and my fistula tract was really long, then others seem to have packing consistently. It’s mad how the treatments are still just leaving a gaping hole in our arses 😅 all the best with healing!

im day 3 now, im absolute agony. which is odd for me as im really good with pain. my first drainage wasnt painful at all after or ongoing, even the packing I couldn't feel and this waa daily for months. but this seton is the worse pain!! cant even get out of bed without dihhydrocodeine! my abscess is on pelvic floor so not much they could do. hoping it tracks out is the plan they said. the bruising and swelling feels and looks horrific. the open hole in my cheek is huge! my hysterectomy last year didn't even hurt. but this seton is horrific.

A friend had this years ago. He had a great doctor who he felt comfortable with and they caught it early. I feel like yours wasn’t caught early. I’m glad you are making this a normal conversation for men.

I’ve had 2 setons for the past 5 years, get a product called sudocrem care and protect, game changer for me for the surrounding areas. Nothing else worked as good as this to protect the skin around the site from becoming painful.
