@redsparrowpeaky: I have done some extensive searching and found a log from a few months ago with the same severe turbulence issue onboard flight N722BD the same one which crashed with the same co pilot Nathalia Filgueiras. Obviously unrelated but interesting nonetheless.. awful experience for anyone involved right now RIP crew. 😪 #america #planecrash #missileattack #viral #fyp
Yes this is older and the same pilots almost making the same mistake they did yesterday. Sounds like the air traffic controller saved them that day

The key difference between the May 6th and November 1st recordings is the air traffic controller’s judgement. In both situations, the pilots wanted to climb above the storm or turbulence. On May 6th, the controller recognised that significant altitude loss was a sign that this was not normal turbulence and instructed the pilots to descend, rather than climb.
On November 1st, the pilot explicitly reported losing approximately 700 feet, yet the controller still appeared to rely on the description of “moderate turbulence” rather than independently assessing the seriousness of the situation.
This is where experience should make the difference. An experienced controller should be able to look beyond the terminology used by the pilots and recognise the warning signs. In my opinion, that is where the critical failure occurred.

I’m trying to figure out why everyone is focus on her when she was not the pilot. She was the co-pilot…

Yall she is the co pilot. She’s not flying the plane. But it seems like not taking weather seriously might have been a factor.

The ATC saved their lives here by asking them to descend when they wanted to go up.
Also, did they not know if its severe turbulence or what?

It seems to me this shows a habit of underestimating the severity of flight conditions. This communication is very interesting, also ATC is very aware and alert to give a rare admonition.

We definitely should not be licensing children to fly airplanes over our heads that should probably be the first thing that we change yeah and also there should be stages as there are stages and levels to something as simple as contracting what I mean as you have a license that will enable you to fly planes over desert and farmland and then another license will enable you to fly over heavily populated areas definitely not Palm Beach

If you listen carefully, she asks to climb. However, climbing in icy conditions can cause ice to build up on the aircraft, disrupting airflow over the wings and potentially causing the plane to stall. This can lead to a sudden loss of altitude and make it extremely difficult for the pilot to maintain control. She got saved this day by this Guy

This incident is peculiar in that they're having difficulty holding altitude. This could be a clue in that the rear stabilizer may be causing undiscovered trouble, especially since it seems to have parted from the plane before hitting the ground in Miami.
