Senior year Spanish teacher told us to write a paper on our country of origin and how our families got here and share it with the class. Me, only BA in class, asked her how was I supposed to know my country of origin and she pointed to my Nigerian American classmate and said if she could do it, so could I. I didnt do the project out of spite but older me now would’ve wrote tf out that paper and let them know WE built this country. My Black ancestors were fighting in the Revolutionary War and Civil War before her ancestors even thought to immigrate here. Built this country on our backs and still haven’t received a thank you
