@hsk_studi0: 🐾🇧🇷 Brazil has taken a stronger stand against animal cruelty by introducing tougher penalties for those who abuse dogs and cats. In September 2020, Brazil passed Law No. 14,064, strengthening the punishment for animal abu*e, mistreatment, injury or mutilation involving dogs and cats. ⚖️ Under this law, anyone convicted of these offences can face 2 to 5 years in prison, a fine and a ban on keeping animals. Before this amendment, animal cruelty generally carried a much lighter penalty of 3 months to 1 year of detention, along with a fine. 🐶🐱 And there's more! If the animal dies as a result of the abuse, the prison sentence can be increased by one-sixth to one-third. One important clarification: This isn't a new law introduced in 2026. It has been in force since September 2020. The law specifically targets abuse and mistreatment, not simply hunting dogs or cats. ❤️ A powerful reminder that animals deserve protection, and cruelty towards them should have serious consequences.
