@thedamonharrison: What if the peace you’ve been praying for is something JESUS has already given you? ❤️ As a caregiver to my 85-year-old mama, who has decided she’s ready to go home and be with JESUS, I’ve had to learn how to process anticipatory grief without allowing fear of tomorrow to consume today. And here’s something I’ve learned through my years of recovery and my walk with JESUS. I cannot control everything that happens in my life, but I can become aware of what I’m believing, what I’m focusing on, and how I’m responding. JESUS said, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you.” John 14:27. I’m not trying to earn that peace. I’m learning to receive it. That doesn’t mean suppressing grief or pretending everything is wonderful. Sometimes I need to cry, journal, take a walk, call a friend, or simply sit quietly and feel what I’m feeling. And sometimes I need to remind myself that I cannot control when Mama goes home to be with JESUS, but I can choose to love her well while she’s here. Gratitude doesn’t erase grief. Faith doesn’t eliminate sadness. But we can experience peace, happiness, and joy even in the middle of difficult circumstances.
