@jacob__knowles: A lot of people think the hardest part of lobster fishing is the rough weather or freezing days on the water, but it’s actually something completely out of our control. Between bait, gear, fuel, and upkeep, costs keep climbing every year—yet we don’t get to set the price for our catch at the docks. Curious how rising expenses are hitting your line of work, and if you actually have any say over what you can charge? Mental health professional. I have complete control, because there isn't a supply chain issue for me. But I will get lobster for dinner tomorrow

I worked at the plant this year and was on the boat last year but 50% of the people that went out fishing held their lobsters for weeks apond end to wait for prices to go up just sell to break even up here in Canada it’s a hard industry that most people don’t realize

Considering the cost of the consumer, whether a restaurant or fish market - which is (my opinion) insane, it's so wrong to me this happens! Love your channel! My Dad life-long Ptown fisherman, including lobster. There's still a picture (and the claws) of my grandfather in the old fish market for a massive lobster he caught many years ago. So, I L-O-V-E watching the ins and outs of it all! Again, Congratulations on your boat!

Price affects my job by policy. Diesel fuel used by locomotives is different than cars and rather expensive. So policy dictates how I operate my train to conserve fuel. Hope that helps. Cheers. [Red heart]

The majority of industries are like yours, the market sets the price. There are some exceptions of monopoles The grass just isn’t greener ask the restaurant that’s selling your lobsters it’s not greener.

Realtor here: Rising interest rates mean less buyers. Less buyers mean sellers get less bc they don't have 40 offers on Day 1 like a few years ago. People in starter homes don't want to "move up" bc they have a 3% interest rate. I'm hearing from EVERYONE with a 2% or 3% interest rate, "I'm going to die in this house." 😂 I'm right there with them!
