turbulence probably ripped it off. the turbulence sounded disastrous

once the horizontal stabalizer is no longer attached, there's no way to pull out of a dive

The same thing happened earlier this year with Greg biffles crash in his Cessna lost horizontal stabilizer

As an owner, would you ever consider a 21 yr old in the cockpit?

whats crazy about this whole thing..... and I'm sure the co pilot had no idea but she died where she grew up and learned to fly. super random

I think it was ice, then the overspeed caused the stabilizer to rip off

You’re right except for the dumping fuel thought, the pilot was in such a bind, is that plane even capable of dumping fuel?

if the horizontal stabilizer was starting to get loose. that would explain the extreme turbulence.

Yeah, anyone making any substantial comment on this should be required to state their credentials, education, training, or whatever qualifies them to have an opinion on it

Yes, the stabilizer separated. They reported an overspeed condition. That's quite literally what overspeed means- flying (or diving) faster than the aircraft was structurally rated for. This is the point when the structural integrity is compromised

with all the technology
why are the planes able to exceed the max speed when knowing the plane will fall apart

The impact was nearly vertical, so the plane didn't skid or tumble. It hit nose-first and the whole airframe crushed into itself within a fraction of a second, from nose to tail.
A jet is mostly thin aluminum skin around empty space. Nothing in it is built to survive hitting the ground at hundreds of miles per hour. It crumples into small pieces rather than breaking into big ones.
The ground gave way like a liquid. At that speed, soil doesn't act like a hard surface. The plane drove in and left a crater, and much of the wreckage ended up buried inside it.
The fuel fire destroyed what was left. Thousands of pounds of jet fuel ignited on impact. Aluminum burns and melts easily, so many pieces became small, charred fragments.
The heavy parts went deepest. Engines, landing gear, and turbine parts are the densest items, and investigators typically find them by digging.
Same physics, same questions: Flight 93 hit a field at about 563 mph, and people said "where's the plane?" there too. Investigators recovered thousands of pieces by excavating. 100s of gallons of fuel in this case

Then explain how they had radio transmission falling at that rate of speed were able to sustain consciousness? The G force would have caused lack of oxygen!

my thought is maybe the storms they flew through had ice build up when they went up to a higher altitude. I could see icing an it went down an broke the plane apart. though we have no idea about what happened. my question is if the storms were the problem why didnt they reroute
