I’ve had my eye on a lot of gear for a long time for underwater footage and long range lenses for on land birds, whale watching and many other wildlife moments but sadly sometimes it’s not always affordable straight away alongside visiting these amazing places and for me scuba diving and sometimes it a compromise of expensive gear you want or the dive trip (I pick the dive trip 🤭) so I have my action camera for videography and sometimes I will take photos on it and then a heavy post edit and a lot of creating and time will go into it, what message do I want to get across? How can I use this to educate? Or for a funny reel? For me the most important thing is to inspire and show the underwater world, the resolution may not be the highest and the shot not perfect or award winning but for me it still can create moments for people to connect with our nature and I can tell those stories. I love capturing the way the animals move, having worked in wildlife for years and teach it as a job, I have an understanding of anatomy, behaviour and ecological drivers and so this helps a lot, sometimes you have to make your best with the cards you have! I hope this helped someone who’s just starting out, got the action camera or phone which take insane photos or even those with amazing gear who also want to utilise the action camera! And this is not against anyone who has amazing gear, I’m envious and I know they would have also started small or somewhere and practiced and saved!
