@huffpost: Two Proud Boys conducted overwatch from a parking garage. Another flew a drone overhead. Below, at the Central Library here in North Carolina, around 50 Proud Boys from chapters around the country had gathered to oppose the Democratic Socialists of America, who were meeting inside. The Proud Boys had scouted the location, putting together a five-paragraph field order that included the entrances and exits, communication channels, and medical plans. They had leaked news that they would be attending so supporters of the DSA would show up. Some, inspired by claims — which seem to be completely unfounded — that wealthy leftists had been funding a left-wing “street army” to fight for socialism, wanted to see if the Proud Boys’ presence would bring them to town. Dressed in their signature black and yellow twin-tipped Fred Perry polo shirts, some with masks pulled up to cover their faces, the men traded insults and curses, alongside some conversation, with counterprotesters on the sun-dappled sidewalk. The police arrived and stayed to observe but made no arrests. Five of the Proud Boys eventually entered the building, making their way to the meeting in the library’s auditorium.
