Ryan :
I don’t think Norvell is a bad coach. I seriously believe that being snubbed from the playoffs just killed the morale in the entire program.

Another good dude you guys should consider is the JMU head coach. that guy seems to be doing things

if u were rooting for him like this after meeting him and u admired him as much as u did just imagine what the admin felt having to let him go they were probably rooting so hard for him.

Clay :
He’s such a good dude. The players loved him. Unfortunately the snub killed everything he preached and taught

Couple things (also FSU alum here), to be fair he had a stellar record at Memphis. We had every reason to be excited about his arrival. Not only that but he came in (and left IMO) with a very FSU-like attitude. We’re not flashy. We’re not angry. He fit in very well. The more I think about it the more I’m wondering what was going on behind the scenes? How did he fall so hard so fast? What was going on to make that happen? I honestly liked him and rooted for him.

No Sweat FSU :
He never had the experience of coaching under an elite coach or program. He rose to being a hc quick because hes a great offensive mind. Unfortunately there was a lot he had to learn on the job while at fsu. Combine that with the massive change in cfb, nil era, it just created more hurdles for him. He’ll likely go to an oregon, learn for a few years, and then find himself at a p2 program again and be very good

Everyone wanted him to figure it out. It’s a damned shame it didn’t.

If we had Norvell right after Jimbo we might be having a different story about him. He’s had the worst luck I’ve ever seen. Between Covid, JT injury and the snub, it’s only so much you can overcome

I am a lifelong FSU fan, dad was born & raised in tallahassee & my extended family still lives there. I’ve always loved mike, he reminded me a lot of bobby when it came down to what he believed in & how he interacted with others & made them feel like family. I truly thought he was going to retire here because I could tell how much he loved the organization. I honestly think the snub ruined recruiting for FSU, it showed future recruits you can do everything right & just win but that isn’t enough. I understand that yes they probably wouldn’t have won it all but at least the opportunity was given.

Mike is a stand up man, father, and coach. I really hated to hear the news he was fired, becuase he is the one who I thought would be there till retirement. But we live in fickle times and I know the record is horrible but damn it sucks. I really didnt want to start the coaching carousel back up.

Makhi :
I think them being snub chipped away at the belief in the players for what he preached and the program as a whole probably didn’t adapt to the new age of cfb

Great guy , just not a good coach … the snub really was the beginning of the end of MN’s tenure , never recovered from that

Guy had bad luck, he’s a nice guy, he can be a good play caller. He had to go. He’ll be fine. I wish it would have worked. He got fucked over in 23’ but not being able to fix it is on him.
