@firm.media3: Suspected bandits ambushed a vehicle carrying police officers who were travelling from Sokoto to Zamfara for a special duty assignment. According to SaharaReporters / IntelNews, the bandits intercepted a Zamfara State mass transit bus conveying the officers along the border corridor between Sokoto and Zamfara, and opened fire at close range. Photos from the scene showed the officers dead inside the bus, hands and legs tied with ropes, and the bus riddled with bullets. Exact number of officers killed has not been officially confirmed yet. The Sokoto and Zamfara Police Commands have not released a statement as of this afternoon. That Sokoto-Zamfara highway has become a hotspot for bandits in recent months — just on Saturday, police said they killed over 30 bandits in Bukkuyum LGA, Zamfara after bandits tried to attack the town.
