@furst_erik: Released in 1985, Nikita by Elton John is a hauntingly beautiful song about a man who falls for someone he can only admire from a distance. Set against the backdrop of the Cold War, it captures the longing, loneliness, and frustration of loving someone separated by an invisible wall. That unmistakable melody, Elton John’s heartfelt voice, and the emotion behind every lyric make this an unforgettable ’80s classic. Sometimes, the hardest part of loving someone is knowing that you can never be together. 🎶 Nikita, I need you so… #EltonJohn #Nikita #80sMusic #ClassicHits #Nostalgia

Elton's real luxury car appeared in the video. The red Bentley Continental Convertible featured in the video was actually owned by Elton John from 1985 to 2000

Furst_Erik :

The song was released in October 1985 as part of Elton John's album Ice on Fire. The music video featured a fictional East German border guard named Nikita, portrayed by actress Anya Major.

Furst_Erik :

A love story divided by the Berlin Wall. The song was inspired by the Cold War atmosphere of the 1980s. It tells the story of someone falling for a person on the other side of a heavily guarded border.

Furst_Erik :

It wasn't actually filmed in East Germany. The snowy border scenes were filmed in the car park of Pinewood Studios in England. Even the snow was artificial!

Furst_Erik :

Another '80s star contributed to the music. Nik Kershaw, known for hits like Wouldn't It Be Good, played guitar on the track.

Furst_Erik :

The woman behind Nikita. British athlete and actress Anya Major played Nikita in the music video. Interestingly, she was also the woman who appeared in Apple's famous 1984 Macintosh commercial, throwing a sledgehammer at a giant screen!

A legendary film director handled the video. Ken Russell directed the music video. He had previously worked with Elton John on the 1975 film Tommy.
