97,000 ÷ 2 = 48,500 each parent paid
repaid 1,000 cash each = 49,500
kept 1,000 and owes each parent 500

You got 100k. You returned 1k to mom and 1k to dad. Total kept 98k. You paid 97k+1k=98k You paid 49k to mom + 49k to dad = 98k. How is that confusing?

50,000+50,000=100,000. 97,000 on the car= 3,000 left. 97,000/2=48,500 each parent contributed. (contributed money 97,000+2k given back total=99,000 total money) now u have 1k left from the 3k thats where it went. so now youre only 47,500 in debt with each parent (from the 1k given to each parent) which is 95,000 total left to pay back.

What... borrowed $50k then gave back $1k. He only borrowed $49k each, totalling $98k.
$97k is in the car and $1k holding. He just owes each parent $49k.
$100k was never borrowed if you consider the $2 erased after return.

In total he borrowed 100k skip all the none sense he gave back already 2k so now he owes 98k, 49k+49k=98k

It didn’t go anywhere, you kept it. Adding the 1k to the 98k is nonsensical. If you split that and gave each parent $500, you’d owe them each $48,500.

98k is what you owe to your parents 97k for the car plus the 1k in your pocket equals 98k.

you borrowed $100k. retuned 2k. your debt is now 98,000. 97 for the car plus the one you kept.

It’s not 98+1 to get to 100 it’s 98-1 to get to 97

He has a 97,000 dollar car plus 1000. 98-98 =0. No lost money.

no 50 k from mom and dad gave both back 1k 49k each. kept 1k, 97k car equals 98k, your logic is wrong.

Nah. He effectively borrowed 98k after what he gave back. 97k is the car and 1k he kept.

Its just cause you borrowed from an even number of people with an odd amount with the car and the odd amount with the remaining. You cant give an even number an odd amount evenly without splitting it into halves. Car is 97+3 remaining = 100

Lizzie | Learn+Earn W/ M.R.R. :
You only owe 98k out of the 100k because you gave 2k back.
97k to the car, 1k to yourself, 2k to your parents still equals 100k.
