@jjwagsreviews: “Wildwood” (2026, PG-13) Stop Motion, Fantasy Laika 10/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Directed by: Travis Knight Written by: Chris Butler An incredible magical world. I love Curtis so much he’s hilarious. One of the best films of the year. Wildwood will be remembered for years to come as a legendary movie, while its lengthy, I think this was an impressive and there best since Coraline from Laika Studios, from the moment the movie boots up though, your senses will be hit from all sides, from the beautiful tracking shot when Prue is riding the bike it’s amazing and so mesmerizing to look at, it’s easily the most gorgeous stop motion movie I’ve ever seen and so fucking fluid. Wildwood also boasts a beautiful soundtrack, the action scenes are some of the best I’ve ever seen in a stop motion film, this world is insane. It has a good backstory too, the plot is beefy enough to justify the run time. The fake kid Alexi was wild and so insane, Alexandria was a great character that’s been through some shit with her son, this world is fucking incredible, the best next to Coraline that Laika could have made. The scene where Prue is flying on the giant bird is one of those magical moments in cinema history. Voice acting and sound is also top notch, this world feels alive and breathes life. The story twists were good too, with the parents meeting Alexandria and her using the 2nd child. Prue has some good character development too, she definitely was an angsty teenager and became a brave woman. It’s definitely really good, even if it’s beefy 2 hour and 10 minute run time is insane, by the end of it you will be satisfied, that final showdown with Prue and Alexandria was the most epic scene in stop motion history. The message at the end of the film got me emotional. Wildwood will stand the test of time and is one of the best films of the year.
