@manhattansdbd: DÍA DE LOS MUERTOS — WE HONOR OUR ANCESTORS BY BECOMING THE HELPERS. 🕯️🌼🐾 Today, on Día de los Muertos, we remember and honor those who came before us. The people whose hands built, healed, nurtured, protected, fed, rescued, and made this world a little kinder. But perhaps one of the greatest ways we can pay homage to our ancestors is to carry their goodness forward. As Maya Angelou reminds us, when we know better, we do better. And as Mr. Rogers taught us, when things seem overwhelming, look for the helpers. What if we became those helpers? What if honoring the lives that came before us meant becoming the people who show up today? The ones who feed the hungry, shelter the vulnerable, protect the innocent, comfort the suffering, and refuse to look away when someone needs a hand. There is a saying that service is the rent we pay for our room here on Earth. And perhaps today, we can think of service as one of the most beautiful offerings we can leave behind. Not everyone can change the whole world. But we can change the world of the hungry animal waiting for a meal, the frightened creature searching for shelter, the neighbor who needs a little help, or the stranger who needs to know they haven’t been forgotten. Today, we pay homage to all our ancestors who served humanity and cared for the animals. To the quiet helpers whose names may never appear in history books, but whose kindness changed lives. May we inherit more than their stories. May we inherit their compassion. May we become the helpers someone else remembers. We honor the dead by how we choose to live. And we honor those who loved by continuing to love. 🕯️🌼❤️🐾 For the neighbors, by the neighbors, for the neighborhood. Larga Vida Los Gatos de Barrio Logan<3 www.losgatosdebarriologan.org
