Three prisoners have been given whole life orders after stabbing a convicted child killer 25 times and leaving him tucked into bed. Mark Fellows, Lee Newell and David Taylor were sentenced on June 19, 2026, for murdering Kyle Bevan inside HMP Wakefield. Whole life orders mean there is no scheduled opportunity for parole. Bevan, 33, was serving a life sentence with a minimum of 28 years for murdering his partner’s two-year-old daughter, Lola James, in Wales in 2020. On November 4, 2025, the three men followed Bevan into his cell. The judge said they had deliberately chosen him because he had murdered a child and had prepared for the attack by making or acquiring improvised weapons. Inside, they cornered him. At least one held his arms while he was stabbed repeatedly in the neck and torso. Less than five minutes after entering, the three walked back out. Bevan was left tucked into bed. A prison officer later described him as looking asleep. His death was discovered the following morning. The judge said Mark Fellows returned to check the cell twice that evening, probably to see whether Bevan was dead and certainly to see how he would look to officers checking through the door. There was another disturbing detail: Lee Newell had already killed another prisoner who had murdered a child, also leaving that victim in his bed. That earlier killing earned Newell a whole life order in 2013. Fellows and Newell were already serving whole life orders before this attack. Both received new, separate orders for Bevan’s murder.
