@stereogum: Last month, Sufjan Stevens made a surprise appearance at the Kingston, NY release show for Meg Lui's 'Instant Validation,' an album he produced and played on. It was his first onstage performance in more than eight years. Now Stevens has released "On This Christmas (It Only Gets Better)," his first new yuletide song in nearly 15 years. It's part of 'Worst Christmas Ever!,' a one-disc compilation culled from more than 100 holiday recordings he's made over the years. The track is out today with a video Stevens directed with Michael O’Neal and Cubby Graham, and 'Worst Christmas Ever!' — out Friday — is available for pre-order via @Asthmatic Kitty Records alongside various new Santa Stevens gift items.
