Walked into the reception and realized the cake was different from what I ordered. Still lovely, but not what I wanted. I just continued on, as at that point there was nothing to do, but enjoy the reception.

I read #6 as "if aunt Linda *takes* the centerpieces" and got really confused because I would absolutely be upset by someone taking something that could be rented lol

We had hail break a window at the venue and a tornado warning. Now my wedding storm wedding just lives in infamy.

As a wedding DJ, number 4 is so true! I can encourage them all I want, I can play all the bangers, all the requests, but at the end of the day, if they don't want to dance, they won't. I always make sure my clients are having a good time and that everyone is at least enjoying the atmosphere.

My husband and I had a courthouse wedding. It was cloudy and looked like it could start spitting rain at any moment. We asked the Justice of the Peace if he would be willing to do it outside, in front of a beautiful fountain. He said "Sure," but looked out a window at the sky and said, "but the weather is the bride's responsibility." I kid you not, the clouds thinned out and the sun started poking through immediately. By the time we signed all the paperwork and got outside, it was a beautiful day.

3. doesn't apply to Asian brides or other non western brides and couples. we need to be worried about if the food taste good. that's the entire point of wedding culture for a lot of our cultures 😂 otherwise- everything else, who cares

I can't even remember my own centerpieces (from 31 years ago!), and in our family we say bad weather is good luck. There was an actual hurricane when my parents got married (after meeting on a blind date, the wedding was 3 months later!) Happily married for 51 years before daddy died.

also for #1. Don't make your guests suffer through bad weather because you don't like the rain option or you never bothered to make a rain option! If you absolutely hate the rain option, maybe that venue isn't for you. I have a friend who refused to use the indoor alternative for the ceremony because they liked the patio. It was a very chilly fall day and raining off and on. Luckily it was only sprinkling for the ceremony, because I really don't know if they would have moved it inside, even if it meant everyone got wet and cold
