Opposing another attempt does NOT automatically mean supporting her release. Pike was convicted of the 1995 murder of 19-year-old Colleen Slemmer. Nothing about what happened on September 30, 2026, erases that conviction or the suffering of Colleen’s family. After Pike survived Tennessee’s lethal injection attempt, her attorneys called for her sentence to be changed to life in prison without the possibility of parole. That means she would remain incarcerated for the rest of her life, not return to society. Some argue that another attempt would be cruel and unconstitutional. Others believe the original sentence should still be carried out, regardless of what happened.
