If you look closely at the still photo of the plane just before impact, one telltale sign that the aircraft may have been pushed beyond its structural limitations is that the horizontal stabilizer appears to be missing. If it separated in flight, that would indicate a catastrophic structural failure and likely put the aircraft in an unrecoverable position, leaving the pilots with little to no ability to regain control.
