@ruxandramocean: The strigoi is folklore. But the belief in the strigoi is very real. In 2004—not 1804—a group of men in Marotinu de Sus, Dolj, opened the grave of Petre Toma after relatives became convinced he had returned as a strigoi. They removed his heart, burned it, and used the ashes as part of the ritual intended to stop him. The police became involved. The six so-called “vânători de strigoi” were eventually conv1cted for d3s3crating the grave and received suspended pr1son sentences. And years later, journalists returning to the area still found people openly describing belief in strigoi and the rituals traditionally used against them. Folklore doesn’t necessarily mean something people stopped believing centuries ago. Disclaimer: this is just describing folklore and depicting an incident. It does not incite you to proceed to perform any acts of this sorts. #witchy #witchcraft #occult #strigoi #vampire References / further reading Dobrescu, P. I mentioned to you in previous conversations I had an ancestor labeled as an Upricz in Poland. When he passed in 1902 he was buried in complete secrecy because the family feared something like this would happen. Allegedly a "charm" was placed on his burial site that if anyone did find it, they would get a nose bleed or a sudden severe bout of confusion and they would forget why they were there and leave. We know that when his sister passed in 1850'something there were actual records of him re-burrying her multiple times because people were trying to destroy her corpse.

My grandma told me that when she was a little girl, in her northwest-Romanian village there was a case of a man who died but came back to eat at a restaurant. But he never paid as said that his son will cover the expenses. After many days the son went in the restaurant and the owner said they will only serv him if he pays out the debt his father made. But the son told to the restaurant owner that his father has already died, but the owner became angry as he said that the father was here even today. So the son went to the graveyard with other man and dig up and saw the father has a big belly and snowring, the body was also in a different position compared how they burried him. So they grabbed a pointy wood and stabbed it in the father’s heart and stoppead sorring….. it was so absurd but my grandmother has some creepy stories about witch craft and supernatural stuffs….
