@wissamalrikabi0: “I should stay away. And he’s right.” That’s Haley Stevens, Sunday morning, explaining in a video on X that El-Sayed had told her she was no longer welcome at his events, and that this was why she was endorsing Mike Rogers. Please. She said it like a woman expecting the state to collectively gasp. The state did something else. Within four hours, Politico reported El-Sayed had raised $1.2 million, already his second-best day. By midnight his campaign said the total was $2.4 million, the largest single day of his Senate run, with more than 26,000 people giving for the first time. Stevens took a primary grievance (she lost to El-Sayed in August after Senate Democrats’ campaign arm spent heavily on her) and a real dispute over an outside group’s ad she called antisemitic (El-Sayed says he didn’t make it and disagrees with it), and she handed both to a man who voted for a national abortion ban, two days before an election that may decide the Senate. The president called it “bravery.” Michigan Democrats called it a call to arms. With a fundraising link. El-Sayed would be the first Muslim U.S. senator. Rogers would be the 51st vote for whatever the president wants next. Tomorrow decides which. Make a plan.
