أكثر شيء عجبني بتصرف الأم إنها لم تتحول إلى قاضٍ، وفي النهاية استطاع الأطفال تهدئة الموقف واحتواء بعضهم لكن عندي تحفظان مهمان: التوبيخ والصراخ ممكن يصير نوع من الانتباه اللي يزيد السلوك، بس مو بكل خلاف.نحن لا نتدخل حتى نمنع كل خلاف، نتدخل بالقدر اللي يحتاجه الأطفال حتى يتعلمون يحلونه بدون أذى. الأطفال لا يتعلمون حل المشاكل لمجرد إننا تركناهم وحدهم. يجب ان نعلمهم كيف يطلبون، ينتظرون، يتفاوضون، يرفضون بدون ضرب، ويصلحون الضرر. وبعد ما يتعلمون هاي المهارات، نبدأ ننسحب بالتدريج ونخليهم يستخدموها. بهذا الموقف، عندما بدأت الأخت تحتوي أختها والموقف يهدأ، ممكن تراجع الأم يكون مناسب، طالما لا خطر. لكن إذا صار ضرب، عض، خنق، تهديد، أو طفل عاجز وخايف، هنا لازم نتدخل فورًا ونوقف الأذى. أما إذا الخلاف بسيط ومتوازن، نراقب ونقول : «حاولوا تلقون حل، وإذا احتجتوا مساعدة أنا موجودة.» وإذا ما قدروا يحلونه، ما نحل المشكلة عنهم، بس نساعدهم: «كل واحد يقول ماذا يريد . مالحل اللي يناسبكم؟» إذاً القاعدة بيست : تجاهلي مشاكل الإخوة. القاعدة هي: الخلاف البسيط نراقبه، والخلاف اللي ما مايقدرون يحلونه نعلمهم كيف يحلونه، والخلاف المؤذي نوقفه فورًا. وهنا الفرق بين الانسحاب الواعي والإهمال: الأم لا تتدخل بكل تفصيل، بس تبقى موجودة، تراقب، تحمي وتعلّم.
