do you play over the whole sermon or only underscore during final wrap up, prayer etc? I'm new to playing keys at church and the first time I was scheduled to play at the end, someone said it sounded professional like a ted talk motivational speech, when the other player like to drone over 1 chord, I put a little movement in there. Could you explain how you balance serving the spirit vs overplaying for underscore? maybe they just weren't expecting my style and they meant it as a good thing, but the goal for me is to not hilight my musicianship but stay out of the way and leave space for God to move. been playing guitar on worship team for 20yr at a mega church, but just recently switched to a smaller congregation and keys trips me up! 😄

the issue of playing music when the word is being preached is it comes across as mulnipulating Gods Presence and people will perceive its God's presence whereas its just the keyboard playing.
