in 11th grade AP environmental, I stayed in class when everyone went to lunch break. we could do that as long as the teacher stayed in the room too. usually a few others would stay as well but one day it was just me. at the same time it was the only day the teacher snuck out to the break room to get his food and he was like I’m going to turn the light off so no one catches you. I was like ok no problem. I’m writing my notes or whatever(nerd), important to note my assigned seat was at the back of the class, minding my business and then I hear my name whispered at the front of the class. I look up, there’s obviously no one there. I’m like whatever I am hearing things. it happens two more times. by then I’m terrified but frozen, staring between where it came from and the classroom door where light is shining in from the hallway and an occasional person walking by, honestly hoping someone would find me. finally the teacher comes back and that was it. scariest 10 minutes because I was definitely not hearing things.

I was staying with my grandma on the Rez. Something about the trees in the bush have always freaked me out. but I was taking out the trash one night as I walked around the corner I heard my name get called from the trees. my entire body tensed up and got goosebumps.. I went inside and asked if anyone inside called my name. Nobody did and I slept on the couch that night.

I was camping in a tent with my friends in my backyard. We heard what can only be described as a singular adult human loudly making monkey noises about 20 ft from the tent in the tree line in the middle of the night. I called my brother and made him come get us and he brought a bat.😂 I can still hear it to this day, none of us can talk about it without crying and we’re adults now. Like 3 girls giggling in a tent and then you suddenly hear “ooo oOO OOO AH! AH!” and then dead silence. The sound of an adult man shouting full volume, but scarily accurate to a monkey, like we all immediately recognized it as human and not an animal, but it sounded like whatever it was had practiced. And I think we all did the calculation that it was close enough it could probably hear us calling for help if it got closer, and would reach us before we could make it to the house if we tried to run for it. I know it wasn’t my brother because I made him stay on the phone with us and heard him walk all the way from his room, to the garage to get a bat, and then out the closest door to us. Our property was fenced in but the side and back fences were pretty short chain link, neighbour kids hopped over them all the time. They were too young to make that sound and we didn’t know them very well. Where it was coming from was right at the edge of some rocks and a drop-off, in a bunch of trees and ivy. No monkeys where we live and I’ve gone camping in the forest nearby several times and never heard anything like it. The closest thing to that level of instant fear was an owl calling like 2 ft from my head in the pitch black, but I thought it was cool the second my brain had time to process what it was.😂 The idea of a random adult man sneaking into our backyard in the middle of the night, waiting in the ivy, close enough he would’ve been able to see the tent and could’ve heard what we were saying when we were being loud, screaming weirdly accurate monkey noises really loud one time, and then just standing there in complete silence, is absolutely horrifying.😭 Still have zero explanation for it, unless someone’s pet parrot escaped and their owner was a full-time monkey actor.

The night my Grandma’s longtime boyfriend passed away (we did not know at the time, he was found dead in his own apartment three days later) we had to take my grandma home from the bar because she was waiting for him and got too drunk, but he never showed up. We walked her into her home. My aunt was leading the way, and she stopped in her tracks and told us to go outside. She heard a man say “hey!” she thought someone was in the home. We looked in each room to make sure nobody was in there. We were very confused until we heard the news that Mike had passed away from a heart attack in his own apartment. We really believe he was trying to talk to my grandma one last time and he didn’t stand her up😭💔

my moms bio dad was a bad man, after he died she put his ashes in her closet and our family dog started growling at her closet door every night. her and my dad had his and hers closets and he never even looked at my dad's closet door.

I was staying at my nans house a couple years back, like living there. there was one day where I had woken up and was looking around for my nan or aunty, or anyone. I end up walking into the hallway and feel this immense dread, but also an immense pull to the end of the hall, where a shadow was, which was entirely unnatural, because the hallway had like this.. cutout in the wall that had like a collection of salt and pepper shakers on it, so no shadow should have been there. I was approaching it when I hear in my good ear, clear as day "dont" and it sounded so... human, that when I turned around, it took me a couple of minutes to realise... I was home alone. when I turned around, the shadow was gone, door bright as day.
