@reuters: A hacking attack on European supermarkets spread across the continent, hitting fridges and freezers from Sweden to Belgium and forcing stores to throw away food in an incident that echoed a similar attack in France in October. Adam Jourdan explains why these "smart" appliances are vulnerable. #europe #hack #supermarket #cyberattack #freezer

Is it because of the greed of supermarkets? Tripling their profits since the pandemic? While people struggle to eat or heat their homes? Isn’t that the REAL story??

It is amazing how people are shocked commercial fridges are connected to the internet. The question is why is your home one.

I don't understand the why of appliances being online like with my Washer and dryer. If I'm not there, why is it running? And furthermore, who's going to load it? And unload it if I'm not there. And then clothes, just spoil if they're washed. It doesn't transfer to the dryer. Oh, what's the fridge gonna do?
Having these hooked up online is as bad and useless as having the utilities online, the only thing it does is create chaos by hacking the system, obviously. 🤔

Have you tried using regular freezers that don’t need random WiFi access with remote controls? Weird feature to be needed.
