@thebelfasttelegraph: Carla Lockhart has quit the DUP following weeks of speculation over her political future. In an open letter she published, Ms Lockhart said she wanted to “be a politician whose word means something” and said she “was pushed far beyond my comfort zone, with the whole of nationalism and republicanism against me, and some within unionism too”. Ms Lockhart has been at loggerheads with the DUP leadership over its stance on the fallout from the Drumcree dispute. The Upper Bann MP had been calling for the DUP to oust Sinn Féin’s Michelle O’Neill as First Minister by resigning deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly, collapsing the Executive in the process. #politicstiktok #NorthernIreland
