@legaldad: Replying to @Ming The Magnificent First Officer was quite young but that’s not unusual. #aviation #planecrash #airplane

The recording is not as bad as people think it is. She remains calm talking to ATC giving correct status of her aircraft at the time. She realizes her plane is going down and will hit the ground. She screams but remains calm even telling the pilot Jack to look out the window and see the oncoming ground and knows they are out of time. Pretty calm demeanor knowing you’re about to die. As a pilot yourself what would you do in that circumstance??

This doesn’t appear to be a case of pilot error.

The pilot heard that on the ATC was most likely the non-flying since that is the responsibility of the non-flying pilot. The other part was the one that was actually flying the plane at the time.

If you are not used to confronting the realm of death, DO NOT listen to the recording. It’s not graphic, but it will make you gaze past the veil and that’s HARD. Humans are supposed to be alive and interacting with life and living things…

I did listen to the ATC, and it was terrifying, honestly. People don't realize a couple of things: 1. She was 17 when she earned her license. 2. I had a friend who did it at 16. She had a couple thousand hours by the time we graduated high school because of the way she did it. The other thing is that if she's on the radio, she's probably not flying the plane As usual, the one who's doing communications is not the one who's flying the plane.

If it has nothing to do with it, why would they look at the training and experience of the pilots ?

I typically don't but for some reason i thought it was safe to, since it had been uploaded so quickly (i half expected it to be fake i think) and it's ok not to. 😞 ice. Horrible for the loved ones and witnesses. 🙏🏻

I understand that the person on the radio is not usually the one flying, there was a man, named Jack flying. both are in our prayers

If you don't have young pilots you will eventually run out of old pilots.

It is distressing. I served in the USCG and I have been in between many SAR calls of people in various modes of distress. Every one has broken my heart and fueled some heavy drinking.

I listened to it. I was terrible but does provide quite a bit of good information about what was happening and what they were dealing with. If you do listen to it, turn it off after she makes the mayday call. Anything after that is not relevant and is just heartbreaking. I can’t imagine how that controller must feel. I would not be surprised if it’s a long time before they return to work, or if they ever return to work. 🥺
