@natgeotravel: This cheese is banned across Europe, but in Sardinia, it's a local delicacy. Rooted in the island’s pastoral traditions, casu marzu is a soft, spreadable cheese with a sharp flavor and smell. The unusual creation process—during which maggots eat and excrete the cheese—may surprise visitors and curious foodies on social media, but artisanal cheesemakers continue to champion it as part of everyday rural life.
