Unfortunately there are many boards that are corrupt and run by incompetent people. Money is very lucrative. They have the power to raise your condo fees very much the same way government can tax you more when it wants more money.

Condo boards members, should consist of residents ONLY. And not residents who have sold, and moved. I have seen this to many times.

I knew a property management company were the owner of the company had a husband who is a contractor and I can tell you there was a lot of malfeasance

I worked on a condo building and the maintenance fees were going to be $3.05/ sqft. (This was new construction completed in 2020 so I bet it’s even more now!)

My condo board outright ignores my accessibility requests as a person with MS. They throw out and handle my property that is in my own designated space, where these items are supposed to be per rules. The president gives himself and his wife exclusive use of the majority of the property while denying same to other owners (including right in front of my and my daughters bedroom windows so his wife can look in my windows whenever she pleases, and she has) .. I called a lawyer and was told I could pursue in the Human rights tribunal but it’s heavily delayed and heavily costly and I still will have to try and enforce any judgment, and then condo fees might go up to offset the legal costs of the condo board defending themselves from me while I’m trying to gain accessibility. It’s absolutely horrible and makes no sense!

Fees are unregulated and fees are being mismanaged where maintenance companies are getting more than a fair profit. It’s ridiculous.

my friend had to move because his condo board kept increasing the maintenance fee until buying a house in this city was cheaper
