But imagine if you couldn’t hear them clearly because all you can hear in the background is the non-stop industrial hum of a data center! 😭 Across various states, including Georgia and Mississippi, massive data centers are popping up right next to residential neighborhoods and even college campuses. A new Politico poll reveals that public opposition to data centers near residential areas has jumped to 50%, with 39% of Black voters actively opposing data centers being built in their communities! Between constant noise pollution, sky-high electricity bills, and massive water usage, everyday people and HBCU students are asking: who approved this in our backyards? The local county commissioners, city council members, and state representatives we elect make the direct decisions on zoning laws, tax breaks, and environmental protections for our neighborhoods. Early voting has wrapped up, which means tomorrow is the last day to make your voices heard at the ballot box! Election Day is the time to show up at the polls and elect leaders who will stand up against data center expansion and protect our quality of life!
