ONDP hasn’t had a contested leadership race since 2009

I with that was true. This is not new. In 1970s NDP policy was to nationalize INCO. the leader refuse to support it during debate. Nothing happened. Just an example. Where is Sara Jama today? Replaced.

If this is about the Ontario NDP and Marit Stiles, I think she ran unopposed for the leadership so like there was no one else.

I tried to stump for the ONDP at my mosque and book club and people out right refused to support the ONDP because of poorly Stiles treated Sarah Jama

We need to retire the old guard if they are unwilling to evolve to match the non-hierarchical shift in demographics. I showed up for some councillors and for the mayor, but I won't do it for ONDP in this state. If not a new leadership and culture change, we get a new party.

But the incremental seats gained last election was such a win!

I just listened to a TikTok long video from Frank Dominic doing an interview with Dylan Marando, one of the four main candidates and it’s still early for me to determine but so far it seems like he is far ahead of the political curve than Stiles is. It also helped that fair vote Canada on Facebook who wants to get electoral reform nationwide has recently did a post of the four main candidates and their stances and the person who I listed above is without question supporter of proportional representation. There is a reason why I emailed Stiles that may or may not be read, but it said that this is a do or die time. She has to wake up and change strategy, or she will bring the Ontario NDP to destruction. They were super lucky that they didn’t lose official party status, because that was the poll at the time. There is no wiggle room next time.

I'm still livid about the last provincial election. Stiles' concession speech had the audacity to say they did everything they could to fight the PCs and that they would "hold them to account". The PCs won with solidly less than 50% support in most ridings. To be clear, I'm mad at the Liberals and Greens as well. The Liberals, NDP, and Greens were offering very similar platforms. They threw every marginalized person in the province to the wolves instead of getting over their own egos.

read between lines. right on the money. And even before "this won't serve your career" is : "leaders of parties are elected, and this implies mandate to *do* certain things and *not do* others, period". At the end of the day it's not about what a party leader wants, its about WHO put them there, and what THEY expect of their representative.

And this is something that drives me crazy about provincial NDP parties - you will have to pry bad leadership from their cold dead hands, from within the wreckage of a disastrous election. Where the Cons and to a lesser extent the Liberals - sharpen their knives very quickly for bad leaders that turn their back on the base of the party. Don't let Stiles Eby Ontario.
