@tracy_tysonmd: Breastfeeding is natural, but that doesn’t mean it’s always easy. ❤️ Supply issues, difficulty with latch, pain, and conflicting advice can make an already challenging time even harder. Having the RIGHT support matters. A knowledgeable, compassionate IBCLC can help you navigate those challenges, understand your options, and make decisions that work for you and your baby. Without judgment or pressure. Research suggests that lactation support can improve breastfeeding rates. If we could extend those benefits to every new mother in the United States, potentially hundreds of thousands more babies could still be receiving breast milk at six months each year. Think about that. Not because we convinced more mothers to breastfeed, but because we gave more mothers who WANT to breastfeed the resources to do so. We need to stop putting all the responsibility on mothers and start building systems that actually support them. Breastfeeding support should be accessible to every family, not just those who can afford it. ❤️ #BreastfeedingSupport #IBCLC #MaternalHealth #PostpartumSupport #Pediatrics @Courtney Skipworth RN-IBCLC

The lactation consultant I saw said my son had a tongue tie and recommended all these “body work” sessions with her and a chiropractor and to have his tongue tie fixed. Pediatrician said he was not tongue tied. So confusing.

My lactation consultant in the hospital told me to switch to exclusively pumping, that my son will probably never latch or nurse. So I did even though it was so difficult. Figured any breastmilk is better than nothing.

My wife really struggled and was determined so she went to an advanced lactation consultant and she was able to figure it out and successfully breastfed our son for 15 months

My lactation consultant was judgey as heck. Really bad experience. This lady seems awesome. If I'd had someone more like her, maybe I would've been able to continue with baby 1. We did the best we could with the tools we had at the time and switched to formula. Baby 2 was a much better experience and nursed over a year. When in the hospital with baby 2, the nurse asked if I wanted a lactation consultant to come by, I said, "Yes, but not if it's [name of awful lady]."
