@browneyedgurl801: General Motors has agreed to pay Iowa $7 million following a lawsuit accusing the automaker of secretly collecting and selling drivers' personal information. Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird alleged GM tracked vehicle speeds, seat belt usage, driving habits and locations without consumers' knowledge or consent. According to the lawsuit, the data was sold to third parties and ultimately reached insurance companies, which allegedly used it to increase premiums, deny coverage or cancel policies. The agreement also calls for changes to GM's data collection and privacy practices. Final settlement terms are still being completed.
