People think homelessness is something that happens to the bottomfeeders. I moved in with my gf, she held the lease, she got o new bf and moved out. The landlord said I have no agency. I slept in my truck for a month.now I rent just a room for 1100 a month

they don’t hate the homeless Personal responsibility and getting people into employment. Enforcing laws against public drug use, encampments and public disorder. Encouraging treatment and rehabilitation. Supporting shelters and services, but sometimes opposing permanent housing without conditions.

Its Neoliberalism. Not conservatism alone. So Liberal policies also create homelessness. Especially under the current federal conservative leader.

Housing needs to be a human right not a portfolio option! Tax the rich, AI & automation use those taxes to create a UBI stabilizing the population & the economy, make a wealth tax

if you haven't noticed, liberal governments aren't fixing it either. I'm not saying you're wrong, but it's more like... Canadians don't want to fix the homeless problem because nobody wants to pay for it. I hope we get UBI some day and that it is effective enough to replace the scattered ineffective social welfare systems.

They're going to fix it by reallocating funding for housing supports to funnel to forcible treatment facilities meant to siphon OHIP money, too.

Capitalism is the only economic system that NEEDS poverty and homelessness. Socialism and Communism don’t require that. (We’re talking about socialism/communism economics, not political parties).
