Refreshing to see such an anti American sentiment in this Godzilla film. Loved it.

Ghidorah was originally going to be red, white and blue, but then they changed it

Yeah I don’t agree with this at all. The biggest problem is that if Ghidorah is supposed to represent the USA, it’s one of the most historically ignorant allegories I’ve ever seen. First with the Pearl Harbor comparison. Uhm… Japan attacked Pearl Harbor so they could carry out their imperialistic conquest (and genocide) across Asia. The US stopped them from doing this freely via oil shenanigans, and as a result got bombed and came back with a fury. The Ghidorah allegory falls apart because Ghidorah was the aggressive conqueror, so unless you think the Japanese were just minding their business, the USA was aggressive (somehow) and Japan bombed them as retaliation, then the allegory falls apart instantly. While yes the Americans are the “bad guys” in this movie, they serve a significantly greater metaphorical purpose of representing humanity. Both the US and the old doctor want weapons, weapons to hurt people in greater ways. They’re both wrong. Ghidorah is representing humanity’s engine of war, needlessly developing weapons (Ghidorah’s evolution) that serve to only harm and destroy people indiscriminately. And like Ghidorah, those weapons (Godzilla) will destroy us brutally and absolutely. This isn’t a story about “USA bad” and Japanese isolationism, it’s much greater. It’s about humanity’s self destructive nature and the truth of the nature of the weapons we make. Those gory scenes of people getting killed with nuclear weaponry weren’t for shock value.

Wouldn’t even relate it to just Japan. GHIDORAH being a foreign invader who extracts from the land it’s essence and taking on aspects of it can be a metaphor for western imperialism

Ghidorah represents America as a sleeping giant, just like how America was referred to as a “sleeping giant” during World War II. Just as America was awakened by the attack on Pearl Harbor, Ghidorah was awakened when bombs were dropped on him in the movie.

I dont get why people are hating on godzilla having no screen time. He had his one movie the first time, this movie was clearly meant to focus on ghidorah and it being the main threat.

actually it's not ultimately JUST American
it's a metaphor for ALL superpowered countries which is confirmed because it was meant to represent china at first

You could also take gihdora being a metaphor for american occupation of japan basically meaning yhat despite hiroshima(in this case godzilla) being delt with the presence is still there
