I got a question, if a person is home and they have a firearm, can they use said firearm to defend their residence and the people inside if the intruder appears armed, and if they are not armed, give them a chance while still using the firearm to intimidate the intruder and get them to surrender? (and be held there until police arrive)

I have a question so I know the min requirement is having 6 or less demerit points to get in this field. however if I have 6 demerits points how much of a negative effect will it have on my application compared to someone with 0 point or less than 6 points
